Projects undertaken by two students are entered as a “Team”, whereas those by only one student are entered an “Individual”. You must enter your exhibit in ONE of the following categories:

- Year 8 Science (Individual)
- Years 9 & 10 Science (Team)
- Years 9 & 10 Science (Individual)
- Years 11, 12 & 13 Science (Team)

- Years 11, 12 &13 Photography (Individual)
- Technology Open (Team)
- Technology Open (Individual)
In addition you may also be eligible to enter for some of the following special awards.
Environment Canterbury Resource Management School Awards.
These awards are sponsored and judged independently by representatives from Environment Canterbury. If you wish your exhibit to be considered for these awards, please indicate this on your entry form. Awards are given to students whose exhibits take an innovative investigative approach to solving an environmental issue facing Canterbury. A log book documenting the progress of the project is compulsory.
There are 2 categories: Years 7-8 and Years 9-13.

University of Canterbury College of Science Emerging Scientist Awards.
All exhibits from students in Years 9 – 13 will be considered for these awards. Awards are given to students who show qualities such as originality, perseverance and passion for their investigations.
University of Otago Division of Sciences Hands-on Science Award
All exhibits from students in Years 11 & 12 will be considered for this award. It comprises an all-expenses paid place at Hands-on Science next January for the best application of scientific method. It is restricted to students entering Year 12 or 13 next year.
